The African Peace Ambassador, Hon. Amb. Sani Ahmed (Sani Gwamna), Jarman Maru, has called on Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, to prioritize the security of lives and property and the overall development of the state rather than yielding to calls centered on welfare.
Hon. Amb. Sani Ahmed made the call on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, during a press conference organized in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Zamfara State in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.
The Peace Ambassador, who was recently honoured with the African Youth Assembly For Peace (AYAP) Peace Award as African Peace Ambassador in July 2026 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to peace promotion and youth empowerment, expressed concern that many people are giving much priority to welfare rather than the security of lives and property of the citizenry.
Speaking in his capacity as a Peace Ambassador, he urged Governor Lawal, as a matter of necessity, to ignore such calls and concentrate on securing the state and driving its development.
He noted that majority of those clamouring for welfare can no longer even sleep in their respective towns and villages, yet they have forgotten the plight of the electorate who are left helpless in rural communities due to insecurity
He described Zamfara as a state blessed with leaders who are up and doing in ensuring the welfare of their people, and therefore stressed that security should be given much more attention at this critical time
According to him, without peace and security, no meaningful welfare or development can be achieved, and lasting peace remains the foundation for the prosperity of Zamfara State.
