The Zamfara State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Dauda Lawal, has approved the distribution of Dangote Initial Public Offer (IPO) shares to 36,176 indigenes of the state.

The beneficiaries, drawn from across the 14 Local Government Areas of the state, will each receive 20 shares of the Aliko Dangote Petroleum and Petrochemical company.

The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the Zamfara State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Relief Matters, the Ministry of Commerce through the Zamfara Investment Company, and the Zamfara State Ministry of Finance.

According to a statement issued by the Zamfara State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Relief Matters, the programme will be coordinated under the supervision of the Honourable Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Salisu Musa Tsafe (Kainuwan Tsafe).

The Governor said the gesture is aimed at creating wealth and providing economic opportunities for the people of Zamfara, by enabling them to participate in various business investments across Nigeria.

Breakdown of the beneficiaries per Local Government Area is as follows:

– Anka – 2,261

– Bakura – 2,261

– Bungudu – 2,261

– Bukkuyum – 2,261

– Birnin Magaji – 2,261

– Tsafe – 2,261

– Gummi – 2,261

– Maru – 2,261

– Maradun – 2,261

– Talata Mafara – 2,261

– Shinkafi – 2,261

– Kaura Namoda – 2,261

– Zurmi – 2,261

– Gusau – 4,522

Gusau, the state capital, has the highest number of beneficiaries with 4,522 slots, considering its cosmopolitan nature and population of people from all LGAs.

The statement added that Governor Lawal has also directed that a special allocation be reserved for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the state.

It is projected that each beneficiary will earn a minimum dividend of up to Ten Million Naira within two years of the investment.

The Ministry noted that the state government has already released funds for the payment of the shares to the company, describing the initiative as part of Governor Dauda Lawal’s agenda to rescue and empower the people of Zamfara to be self-reliant.

The Ministry further disclosed that more empowerment programmes targeting women and youths will soon be unveiled through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs.
