Marafan Sokoto Football Club of Talata Mafara has emerged champions of the Zamfara West Senatorial District Zonal Football Competition after a hard-fought 1-0 win over New Generation FC of Anka.
The final match was played on Saturday at the Zamfara State University Football Field, Talata Mafara, under tight security arrangements. Marafan Sokoto secured the trophy through an early strike by Hussaini Ayya, a goal that proved decisive against a resilient New Generation side from Anka Local Government Area.
The competition was organized by the Zonal Constituency Office of the Distinguished Senator Abdulaziz Yari and coordinated by Alhaji Sha’ayau Yusuf. A total of 36 clubs drawn from the six Local Government Areas of the Senatorial Zone participated in the tournament, which ran for several weeks.
Speaking shortly after the match, Zonal Coordinator Alhaji Sha’ayau Yusuf, who was represented by his close ally, Alhaji Ahmad Galadima, expressed delight over the peaceful conduct of the final. He assured the teeming youth of the constituency of sustained support and welfare through more sporting initiatives.
