Chairman Yahaya Yari Abubakar faults Minister Matawalle over unfulfilled pledge of 2,000 troops after 15 killed in Sado attack
The Chairman of Talata Mafara Local Government Council in Zamfara state, Yahaya Yari Abubakar, has said local security forces have dislodged 14 bandit camps within the local government area.
Speaking to the BBC on Monday morning, Mr. Abubakar was responding to allegations that the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, had failed to fulfill a promise to deploy 2,000 soldiers to combat banditry in the state.
“It is pertinent for leaders to be reminded of their obligations,” the chairman said, reiterating a position he has maintained over the past week. He accused the minister of not delivering on the earlier pledge to send 2,000 army personnel to the state.
The remarks came in the wake of a bandit attack on Sado district in Talata Mafara, during which 15 residents were reportedly killed.
