Yesterday night, bandits killed nine persons and kidnapped another 55 in Makera village, Talata Mafara Local Government, Zamfara state.
According to one local, the bandits came in the town at about 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday 20th February, 2024 and began firing intermittently, causing panic among the people.
Residents who spoke to dfknews.com.ng on the condition of anonymity stated eight individuals were killed instantly during the attack, and one of the abductees, who had recently been freed from the hospital, was verified dead by his abductors late Tuesday evening.
According to the local, following meticulous inquiry by a committee comprising of the village’s head councilor and other crucial stakeholders, 55 persons were confirmed missing and suspected of being kidnapped.
Makera is a district of Talata Mafara Emirates, located about 20 kilometers from the Talata Mafara local government headquarters and around two kilometers from the Maradun local government headquarters.
Authorities are yet to make any comments about the Makera attack.
