The Minister of State for Water Resources and Sanitation, Alh Bello Goronyo, has commissioned the newly built SONGHAI Model Farm in Maradun local government area of Zamfara state.
According to the minister, the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is very concerned about food security, which is one of the priorities on its new hope agenda.
As honorable ministers under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, we are tasked with forcefully persuading our respected ministries of the overall success of the renewed hope agenda.
The minister also urged the beneficiary community to work with security forces to provide an enabling atmosphere for proper usage of his ministry of water resources and sanitation’s abondoned opportunity.
He also promised to look into other cretical demands made by Bakolori stakeholders.
He also promised to look into several concrete demands made by Bakolori Dam stakeholders, namely the inclusion of women in federal government projects related to his ministry.
Earlier, Alhaji Nasiru Modi, Project Manager of Bakolori Irrigation Scheme, stated that the newly inaugurated Farm is an integrated model Agricultural production system that allows waste in agricultural production, bi-products from crops are fed to animals, and waste from animals can be used to fertilize farm Land.
According to the Project Manager, the SONGHAI model farm includes the following sections: fish, poultry, livestock, and food crops such as rice, maize, sorghum, and beans.
Other farm parts include the Market Garden, Tomato, Okro, Cucumber, Carrots, Mango, Orange, and Date Palm.
The minister also presented park to some selected beneficiaries who graduated after training from the model farm center.
