The Zamfara state government has lunched 1444 Islamic calender with two million five hundred thousand naira.
This was announced by the State Governor Dr, Bello Muhammad (Matawallen Maradun) who was representend by the state Deputy Governor, Senator Hassan Muhammad Gusau, at the annual programme organised by the Joint Youth Islamic Organisations in commemoration of the new Islamic Calendar marking the beginning of the new Islamic year 1444 AH.
The Deputy Governor, expressed satisfaction with the high level of commitment being demonstrated by the officials of the non- governmental organization for sustaining its activity for decades.
Senator Hassan Muhammad Gusau appreciated the previous state administrations’ efforts in various ways for the development of Islam as the predominant system and way of life of the community in the state.
Jarman Gusau was particularly concerned about the contribution made towards meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the citizens especially the introduction of the Shariah legal system in the State which resulted in the establishment of the State Ministry of Religious Affairs and many other Shariah-related organisations to encourage the operation of platforms like the Joint Islamic Youth Organisation.
He also commended the continuous effort of the present administration to sustain the general processes of Shariah implementation in the State.
He therefore, called on all Islamic-related organisations to emulate the Joint Islamic Youth Organisation, especially in the area of intensive enlightenment to the Muslim Ummah on the need for more proactive measures in the pursuit of both Islamic and Western education.
At the occasion, on behalf of His Excellency the State Governor and his family, the Deputy Governor and his family, the Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Commissioners, Special Advisors and Head of Service, the Deputy Governor announced the donation of two million five hundred thousand Naira in respect of this year’s Calendar, while the chief launcher Alhaji Atiku Sale Ruwan-Doruwa launched the calendar with one million Naira cash.
