Zamfara state police command, said it is striving to improve sustained working synergy with other security agencies operating in the state.
In a press release issued by the command’s PPRO, SP Mohammed Shehu, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Kolo Yusuf stated this while receiving new Commander, 1 Brigade of Nigerian Army, Gusau who was on a courtesy visit to the CP in his office.
CP Kolo Yusuf assured that his command is making efforts to cement working synergy with his sister security agencies aimed at effectively curtailing banditry, kidnappings and other heinous crimes bedevilling the state for over a decade.
Kolo commended the complimentary roles of the military in internal security operations.
He noted that the only solution to the prevailing security challenges is to and sustain the existing inter agency working synergy , and to do away with rivalry.
The CP thanked the new Brigade Commander for the courtesy visit and assured him of his command’s sustained partnership with the military and other stakeholders in his determination to restore lasting peace in the state.
In his remarks earlier, the new Brigade Commander, Brigadier General S. Ahmed said the police being the leading security agency, its roles in checkmating internal security can not be under estimated.
General S. Ahmed commended the resilience of the police demonstrated, especially during the just concluded 2023 general elections held in the state .
He added that the role of the military to internal wranglings is just complimentary due to its superior firepower.
The commander further acknowledged the operational tactical approach and operational capacity of CP Kolo Yusuf, calling on him to translate his wealth of experience in a manner usable in future.
Several sensitive security issues were discussed between the two security leaders in a bid to quell tides of criminal elements across the state.
