The management of the Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara, Zamfara State has banned the printing of names on T-shirts by graduating students.
According to a statement released by the Public Relations Unit of the institution signed by Sani A Garba said the decision was conveyed in a circular from the office of the Students’ Affairs division dated January 26, 2023, and signed by the Students’ Affairs Officer, Abubakar Muhammad.
Part of the statement reads:
“It has been noted that some students, particularly those who are graduating, do sign out by writing on their clothes and participate in unauthorized parties on campus. These actions are immediately prohibited.”
“The Management of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic has observed with dismay the way graduating students are celebrating their exit after their final examinations, especially the signing out on the graduation T-shirts and spraying water to their colleagues within the school premises and the hostel.”
“Consequent upon that, the polytechnic’s management has banned the signing out on the T-shirts and spraying of water to colleagues during the graduation celebration.”
The circular further noted that “appropriate sanctions will be taken against defaulters of the above.”
The institution led by Professor Sha’ayau Shehu Mafara has recently directed all invigelators to send out any students who dressed unethically to write any exam; this includes students who dye their hair, wear uncouth hair styles, wear shorts, or wear a shoulder-less shirt to exams.
