Former.Zamfara state Governor who doubles as Zamfara state APC Gubernatorial Campaign Council chairman, Hon. Dr. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar (Shattiman Zamfara) has presented 340 bags of parboiled rice,15 cow bulls and a total of 1million naira to Christian denominations across the state.
Represented by a Federal Commissioner in the Federal Character Commission and one of the close allies of the former Governor Yari’s political movement, Alh. Sani Garba Gusau in presenting the donated commodities and the cash to the Christian leaders in the state, said the gesture was to enable Christians in the state celebrate the forthcoming Christmas with happiness.
The federal commissioner added that with Former Governor Yari’s magnanimity to People of the two faiths during their festivities with a view to making them celebrate such events with relative ease.
The items were shared according to the ratio of ethnic Christian dominations in the state.
The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN got 250 bags of rice, 10 cows and one million Naira cash, APC Igbo Community Association received 40 bags of rice and two cows, State Igbo wing of APC had 40 bags of rice and two cows while A A Yari Yoruba wing went with 10 bags of rice and one cow.
Alh. Sani Garba called on the beneficiaries to do justice in the allocation of the commodities to their members.
He took advantage of the occasion and prayed the lasting peace and stability in Zamfara state.
In their separate remarks shortly after receiving the items, the state CAN chairman, Rev. Iliya Tsiga, the Chairman of APC Igbo Community, Mr Collins Ofodile, Emmanuel Anokwuru of A A Yari APC wing and the representative of AA Yari Yoruba APC wing. Isiaka Lawal both appreciated the gesture and reiterated their solidarity with former Governor Yari.
They further described Yari as a role model among the Nigerian politicians who always exhibits exemplary lessons.
“He (Yari) has been doing it when he was the governor of this state and after he left office he did not relent in good stewardship. We commend his courage and determination in treating everyone, irrespective of religion or ethnicity”, they testified.
Other personalities present during the presentation of the items are, Hon. Sani Musa Mafara, former APC State Secretary, Alhaji Babangida Anka, former APC State Treasurer and Alhaji Shuaibu Kura, a Director General.
