Members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have been called upon to retighten their belts on how best to deliver their mandates as the Fourth Session of the Sixth Assembly commenced.
The called was made by the Speaker and Chairman Selection Committee, Rt. Hon. Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya (Shattiman Zurmi), while chairing an Executive Session of the House after resumption from a 3-week Sallah break.
It could be recalled that the House has closed for a 3-week Sallah break to enable the entire Members celebrate Eidl-Kabir at home and re-engage their constituents and other relevant stakeholders to have a stock taking and clear human needs assessment to plan for the 4th Session.
The Speaker reminded the Honourable Members on their primary responsibilities of law making, representation and oversight. As representatives of over five million people of the State, we need to renew our commitment to justify the confidence reposed on us by our constituents, he added.
Hon. Nasiru Mu’azu who called on the Chairmen of various Standing and Ad-hoc Committees to work hard so as to accomplish the task before them, further thanked the entire Hon. Members for the support and cooperation given to him within the period under review. As the head of the State Legislative Arm, I can only be successful with your support, Magarya said.
He also thanks Governor Bello Muhammad (Matawallen Maradun) for his response to the House and pledged to strengthen the Executive/Legislative relations for the betterment of the citizenry.
Hon. Magarya registered the House sincere gratitude and appreciation to the general public for their unwavering support to the present administration, according to him, government’s policies and programmes are aligned to ensure the wellbeing of the general populace, hence the need for their continued support to achieve the said objectives.
