The Zonal Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ zone ‘A’ Comrade Abdulrazak Bello Kaura has commended branch body of the Union of Zamfara State Radio and Television Services, for organizing a sensitization seminar aimed at regulating hate speeches and inciting statements to Islamic Scholars in the State.
Speaking during a Ramadan Lecture organized by ZRTV Chapel of the NUJ, Zonal Secretary in charge of Zone ‘A’, Comrade Abdulrazak Bello described the event as significant considering its goal which is to redirect scholars (ulamas) on the importance of using decent words while preaching, not only, during the holy month of Ramadan, but rather, even, before and after Ramadan.
According to the Zonal Secretary, it is part of the responsibility of all broadcast media to gatekeep and self-regulate broadcast content before going on air.
“I therefore, on behalf of the entire Journalists in the Northwest (I.e Zone A), especially, the Zonal Vice President, in the person of Cmrd. Muhammad Tukur Umar commend the Zamfara Radio Chapel for organizing this informative and educative event.”
“As the Zonal Secretary and a member of the Zamfara State Council of the NUJ, I wish to reaffirm my commitment and determination to ensure unity, progress, and overall development of all Journalists in Zamfara State, in particular, and Northwest, in general.” He added
“Journalists in Zamfara Stare are equally enjoined to key into the efforts of the present leadership of the NUJ under the auspices of Chief Chris Isiguzo in ensuring professionalism and promoting modern journalism across the country.” He concludes
The Zonal Secretary was represented during the event by Comrade Dahiru Samaila Mafara, former treasurer of Zamfara state Council of the Union and Currently Secretary of Credentials/Screening Committee of state Delegates Conference 2022.
